Digg and the HD-DVD crack

I admire something about this statement:

But now, after seeing hundreds of stories and reading thousands of comments, you’ve made it clear. You’d rather see Digg go down fighting than bow down to a bigger company. We hear you, and effective immediately we won’t delete stories or comments containing the code and will deal with whatever the consequences might be.

If we lose, then what the hell, at least we died trying.

Following the linking to stories about the HD-DVD crack (as in code) took down all references to it after getting cease and desist notices. A mass protest followed with thousands of entries posting the code on

And then last night:

Last night, the AACS LA's attempts to keep an HD DVD crack under wraps backfired in a spectacular fashion. Pandora's Box is now wide open and there's no going back now.

Democracy in action or mob rule? An interesting thing.
