The surgery is over. Ben had an x-ray this morning and a check up with the doctor and everything looks good at this stage. In a few weeks we will be returning to the hospital to have the implants activated and Ben will begin to hear sound. Until then he is totally deaf. It has been a stressful couple of days but things are starting to feel better today.

Good luck Ben.
James I have known you for a long time and you have an ability to overcome all the hurdles placed in front of you. (and you don't let it get you down!) I am sure that Ben will benefit greatly this ability.
I went through a rough patch 1.5 years back with an ear problem. I went deaf in one ear and all sound was distorted. I was very isolated for about 2 months there after the treatment. I could not understand what people said and people could not understand what I said. I got very angry and frustrated. I had to re learn to speak and speak very slowly. When the inner ear swelling from the treatment went down (it took about a year) I regained about half the hearing in my ear.
Best wishes.
Ben Tehan
Thanks Ben. Yes, hearing determines so much of our reality. I think it will be a great shock when Ben starts to use the implants for sound.
I as thinking the other day, you and I have been friends for 20 years this year!!!
